HERO Events teams up with Zenith – to become official Timekeeper of the HERO Cup.

HERO Events’ legendary classic rallies have always encompassed three key elements: precision, endurance and passion. These elements have brought Europe’s leading classic car platform into partnership with Zenith Watches, one of the last real Swiss Manufacturers, famous for its legendary high frequency El Primero movement and a Brand that is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2015. The traditional craftsmanship, ancestral know-how and timeless passion that characterize Zenith has made them a natural choice for HERO as the Official Timekeeper of The HERO Cup for Drivers and the Golden Roamer Trophy for Navigators – two competitive series which are now widely recognised as the pinnacle of historic regularity rallying in Europe.
As part of this partnership, a unique HERO Cup / Zenith branded limited edition of El Primero Chronomaster Open watch will be presented to each of the winners of the HERO Cup & Golden Roamer series – to complement the already generous prizes of a week’s sailing on the S/Y Orianda for Drivers or a standard entry to one of three events promoted by HERO for Navigators. Furthermore, HERO and Zenith will team up to produce a unique HERO Cup limited edition El Primero Chronomaster Open watches that will be available for sale in Zenith’s boutiques worldwide.
Zenith has a long-standing involvement with classic motor sport and many of its achievements and development successes have been inspired through this interaction. Zenith has chosen the HERO Cup as their brand ambassador because it represents a mechanical fascination where precision timing, reliability, determination and passion for authenticity are core values – values that are at the heart of any Zenith movement and timepiece.
Keith Gapp, Head of Strategy and Marketing, EFG International, co-sponsor of the HERO Cup commented about the partnership:
“EFG has been supporting the HERO Cup for the past three years, and we are looking forward to the next three. We work alongside Zenith at other motoring events and it is good to have them on board. It is an indication of something we firmly believe, namely that the HERO Cup is going from strength-to-strength.”
Patrick Burke, Managing Director of HERO Events said “I am delighted and honoured that HERO has teamed up with Zenith as our official timekeeper to look after those precious seconds of each HERO Cup qualifying round. Zenith have accompanied the most extraordinary individuals throughout history in reaching their goals: from the legendary pocket watch owned by Mahatma Ghandi, to breaking the sound barrier in free fall from the edge of space at the wrist of Felix Baumgartner. Zenith represents the highest standard of excellence but more importantly, a commitment to be part of one’s life adventure and goals, small or big, personal or in the public eye…. You just trust a Zenith watch to record those moments in time and we are proud to announce this partnership.
Aldo Magada, President and CEO of Zenith added “Zenith brings style and substance to the wrists of watchmaking cognoscenti the world over – the same passionate individuals who share with vintage car enthusiasts a fundamental fascination for refined mechanics! Technical performance, authentic craftsmanship and powerful thrills are the common denominators of fine mechanical engineering and high-end watchmaking. By partnering with HERO, Zenith is reaffirming Classic cars as its Brand territory and asserts its strong brand values of Authenticity, Daring and Pleasure.

About Zenith
Founded in Le Locle in 1865 by a visionary watchmaker, Georges Favre-Jacot, Zenith Watches earned swift recognition for the precision of its chronometers with which it has won 2,333 chronometry prizes in a century and a half of existence: an absolute record in terms of pocket watches, onboard timers and wristwatches. Having earned fame thanks to its legendary El Primero calibre – an integrated automatic column-wheel chronograph movement launched in 1969 and endowed with a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour that ensures short-time measurements accurate to the nearest 1/10th of a second -Zenith Watches has since developed over 600 movement variations. The facility currently stands at the exact spot where its founder built the first company workshop, thereby physically embodying a continuity that is a rarity in itself.
